SERVICES company WorleyParsons will provide project management and engineering services at Viva Energy Australia’s Geelong refinery in Victoria.

Viva Energy Australia is the operator of the Geelong refinery following Vitol’s $2.9 billion acquisition of Shell’s downstream business (excluding aviation) in 2014.

In a statement, WorleyParsons said the contract is for three years with two one year renewal options and covers the provision of project delivery services associated with the sustaining capital Viva Energy intends to invest to support and improve its operations.

WorleyParsons will base its services at the refinery, leveraging its existing Geelong operation with further support as required.

WorleyParsons chief executive Andrew Wood said the group was looking forward to helping them make the most of their capital spend at the refinery.

Owned by Viva Energy Australia, the Geelong refinery is one of the largest and most complex hydrocarbon refineries in Australia and produces about half of Victoria’s petrol and other fuel needs, Viva Energy Australia said in a statement.
