ORIGIN Energy founding director Trevor Bourne has joined the board of Senex Energy as an independent non-executive director.
Senex chairman Denis Patten said Mr Bourne had an impressive career history over four decades, with extensive experience both as a senior executive and as a nonexecutive director.
“His appointment also signifies an important step change in the composition of the Senex board, corresponding with the growth and development of the company,” he said.
Mr Bourne has an extensive background in executive management and non-executive roles across resources and energy, manufacturing, logistics and engineering.
He was chief executive of Tenix Investments from 1999 to 2003 and spent 15 years with Brambles Industries, with six of those years as managing director of their Australian and Asian operations.
He has been a member of the Caltex board since March 2006 and is currently chair of the occupational health and safety committee and a member of the audit and remuneration committees.
Mr Bourne is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of New South Wales and an MBA from the University of Newcastle.
He also chairs the safety committee for Sydney Water’s board, which he joined in February 2014.
The appointment came as Mr Patten announced that he planned to step down from the role of chairman following the company’s 2014 annual general meeting. He plans to remain on the board.
