SPECIAL Piping Materials Australia has moved into a purpose-built warehouse and office facility covering over 3,000 square metres in Bassendean, Western Australia.

The managing director of the company’s Australian operations, Ian Hutchinson, said a series of new contracts had seen the company outgrow its former base, in Welshpool, about two years ago.

“Now we have moved into a facility around three times the size,” he said.

“Our new Bassendean facility allows us to continue our significant growth shown over the past few years,” he said.

“It gives us well-needed space to increase inventory so we can now offer from stock items which in the past would have to be imported from overseas.”

This would help avoid the delays previously encountered by customers while waiting for goods to be imported.

Where the group was previously a “niche” provider of goods, today the company was being asked to provide a broader service offering – often including more standard grades of stainless steels.

The new space would mean it could keep increased quantities of its existing products on hand, as well as hiring new staff to assist with internal and administrative duties.

In addition, the larger facility means Special Piping Materials can add new inventory lines of heavy wall pipes and fittings and high pressure flanges in duplex S31803/2205 and super duplex S32750/2507.

“The space available also allows us to continue to improve our internal processes and invest in new staff members to better service our clients’ increasingly stringent needs,” he said.

Mr Hutchinson said he was delighted with the company’s smooth transition to the new facility.

“We have had an exceptional 2014 and look forward to building on that success throughout 2015 and beyond by delivering consistent solutions to our ever-expanding client base in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
