A FLANGE integrity management system developed by SPX Bolting Systems combines safety, security and simplicity for the entire pipework system, its developer says.

FlangePro is a completely flexible solution for all joint integrity activities on all safety critical plant and equipment that requires extensive control, safety and effective record keeping.

In addition, it can provide control to safely and efficiently perform any activity or workflow for any type of asset with complete confidence.

To control the entire system the software informs in particular on: flanges, valves, small bore tubing, other specialist equipment etc.

As technology is always developing, it is today possible to operate equally well, on work packs of up to 100 joints or valves or on a new plant with fewer than 150,000 joints or valves.

It is now possible to sort, filter and analyse plant status, right down to the joint or equipment level or alternatively take a high level view of the progress of a project.

Each physical item (flange etc.) and workflow type (hydro/leak test, flange tightening procedure etc.) can have its own predefined reports to the client’s specification.

Moreover, software should allow users to customise it to mirror companies’ organisational process and procedures. Fields can be changed, added to, or removed prior to go-live, FlangePro is fully configurable and allows the import of company logo and details etc.

Safety

Flange pro helps addressing elements of SEMS (also known as Workplace Safety rule), SEMS II, and RP 75 (maintaining key information on flanged joints, but also mechanical integrity of piping etc.).

A simple bar code reader allows access to work instructions and recommendations for each flange. All standard document types can be added to, stored and revised with full security. The leak test system can also provide full versioning of the adjustments and changes to the test pack documents as they change.

It can be installed on a sole computer or on a company’s internal network. However, there is also a third option: the “Cloud Based” system, which ensures the highest confidence, integrity and security of client data systems, as a free access from all kinds of devices: computer, smartphones, tablets etc.

Data centres meet some international standards such as ISO27001 (Information technology – Security techniques – Information security management systems – Requirements) or 9001 standards. They can also be compliant with requirements for highly regulated industries such as Oil & Gas, as required.

Technical features

As some pipeline operators use former OS (Operating System), Flange Pro is designed to support Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 and above operating systems as well as different formats for data updating, loads and exports: CSV/Excel/XML.

The system contains a project dashboard of ‘Joint Status Over Time’ which shows the progression of the joint completions over the last three weeks giving an indicator of project performance as well as showing all joints ‘Fit for Service’.

Thanks to this system, Leak Test Packs can be produced. P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) can be marked up with a user defined library of symbols and stored against each Test Pack.

For a greater ease of use, the software offers a tool allowing P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) to be marked up with a user defined library of symbols and stored against each test pack.

Once marked up, the drawings are not overwritten or changed; they are simply over-laid to create multiple markup layers, which sit on top of them.

Moreover, software should allow users to customise it to mirror companies’ organisational process and procedures. Fields can be changed, added to, or removed prior to go-live, FlangePro is fully configurable and allows the import of company logo and details etc.

To sum up, FlangePro helps managed more tightly – drawing numbers, system details and also joints, fastener and gasket details and the necessary tightening, tensioning, torque values etc. which are all essential in the asset management endeavor.
