A 3D SEISMIC survey over 60,000 hectares in the East China Sea has been wrapped up, owner Primeline Energy Holdings has announced.

Contractor China Oilfield Services (COSL) wrapped up the survey early on 2 May after benefitting from good weather and sea conditions in the area of Block 33/07, in which Primeline is operator with a 75% interest.

Data was shipped to COSL’s processing centre for processing, expected to take between four and five months, allowing Primeline to merge the new data with existing 3D seismic data for interpretation in the third quarter of 2014.

Primeline’s existing seismic data covers the LS36-1 gas field development in block 25/34, located south of the surveyed area.

“The new survey is intended to provide better definition of the prospects and leads that have previously been identified in the survey area using 2D data, in order to generate more drillable prospects,” Primeline said.

“In the meantime, the LS36-1 gas field development is progressing well with CNOOC Limited, as operator, working on the final connection to allow the production to commence soon.”

The target for first gas from the project area, in which it holds a 36.75% interest is during the third quarter of 2014, Primeline said.

The overall development program for the LS36 1 gas field development was approved by the Chinese governmenbt on 16 May, Primeline said.
