A CONTRACT to develop an integrity and maintenance program for the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG project has been awarded to an arm of oil and gas facilities service provider Petrofac.

Petrofac’s asset performance management consultancy Plant Asset Management (PAM) started work with the group in March for a forecast 18-month term, using staff from its Perth and Brisbane offices.

In what is one of the largest value contracts ever given to the company, PAM will assess the Ichthys project’s offshore and onshore facilities prior to program start-up.

“This will allow for timely review and acceptance of the maintenance and inspection programme by operations personnel, and ensure repair strategies and spares are in place,” Petrofac said.

“Close engagement with INPEX through a pilot build and a Stage 1 integration exercise, led by subject matter experts from the business, helped define an execution roadmap and project execution plans, aligned to INPEX’s project objectives.”

The scope of the project includes including onshore facilities, two LNG trains, LPG and condensate plants, product storage tanks, administration facilities, utilities and a jetty and offshore facilities, semi-submersible central processing facility and floating production, storage and offloading facilities.

Plant Asset Management plans to use its proprietary BuildMETM asset management program development platform to support the project with a fully integrated work management system build environment.

The program will be led in Perth from INPEX’s local offices, though Petrofac said the project would also draw upon “significant support” from Plant Asset Management’s resources around the world.
