NORWEST Energy will carry out a seismic survey over its onshore exploration permit in the Perth basin after securing the required regulatory approvals, the company has announced.
The survey will be conducted within exploration permit EP413 over an area of 10,600 hectares at the Arrowsmith locality, 250 kilometres north of Perth, between Eneabba and Dongara.
It will provide further data to assist with defining the future development options of the Arrowsmith field, Norwest said, with two separate intervals having been high-graded for potential development.
These will ultimately help the company decide where to drill the project’s first horizontal well, Arrowsmith 3.
Results from the survey, which started in March, are expected during the third quarter of this year.
The evaluation program for the Arrowsmith-2 well was finalised during 2014 with ongoing review and analysis of the resulting dataset continuing into 2015.
The Arrowsmith field was ranked as a discovery after an independent evaluation by DeGolyer and MacNaughton, which said the deposit had a contingent gross recoverable resource of 316 billion cubic feet of gas and a prospective gross recoverable resource of 2.6 trillion cubic feet of gas.
Norwest holds a 27.9 per cent operating stake in the project, with AWE holding 44.2% and Bharat PetroResources holding 27.8%.
