MURRAY Hawkes will take over as chief operating officer of Petsec Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary, Petsec Energy (Middle Eastern) Limited.

Mr Hawkes will also take on the role of Yemen general manager, focussing on reactivating field activities in Yemen, including the restart of production at the An Nagyah oilfield in the Damis block S-1.

Mr Hawkes is a technical expert with significant managerial experience overseeing the delivery of major projects in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Petsec said he has been a senior executive in the region managing the delivery of exploration and appraisal projects over the past ten years.

Mr Hawkes’ experience has included senior technical and managerial roles with responsibility for delivering exploration, appraisal, and development projects during his 35 years of professional activities in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Petsec said he has worked for Oil Search, Pacific Tiger Energy, and BHP Billiton Petroleum.

Petsec Energy (Middle Eastern) Limited’s chief executive Maki Petkovski welcomed Mr Hawkes to the team.
