ENGINEERING company McDemott International will work on pipelines off the Middle East under a contract recently awarded by an unnamed upstream oil and gas project operator.
McDermott said the scope of its contract included engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation and installation of offshore pipelines for the project.
The company started moving engineering and offshore mobilisation of its in-house vessels for the assignment in March, with project completion expected by the end of this year.
McDermott vice president of Middle East, Linh Austin said the Middle East market was a focus for the company.
“We are pleased with our customers’ continued trust in our capabilities in executing offshore EPCI work in the region,” he said.
“The nature of this fast-track project was ideally suited to our vertically integrated capabilities involving our engineering, project management and procurement teams based in Dubai, as well as our marine assets in the region that addressed all the project drivers to deliver the best customer-focused solution.”
The contract award will be reflected in McDermott’s first quarter 2016 backlog, the company said.
