FORMERLY the head of group business development and marketing at the Australian branch of Norway’s OSM Maritime Group, Mark Williamson has been appointed the commercial director of Svitzer OSM Australia.

Mr Williamson has taken on the role within OSM Maritime, focusing on the strategic growth of the Svitzer OSM business unit. He will remain on the Svitzer OSM Australia Board of Directors.

A joint venture between the two groups, the new company will provide crewing solutions in the Australasian market.

Mr Williamson said he had lofty ambitions for the joint venture.

“OSM is committed to the growth of this region, making the success of this joint venture a priority for 2015 and onwards,” he said.

“OSM is able to bring its global reach to the Australian market, which Svitzer OSM can make full use of going forward.

“With our current global fleet of around 500 vessels we are in a position to offer our existing global customers some continuity of crewing solutions when transitioning their assets in and out of Australia.

“Svitzer are a great partner in this joint venture, they bring the type of professional quality to the partnership that is extremely important in the crewing industry.”

Svitzer Australia managing director Mark Malone said he was delighted with the appointment.

“The Australian offshore industry is recognised as a partnership between international ship-owners/operators and local seafaring skills and experience,” he said.

“Our joint venture fits neatly in this arrangement, as we combine the global spread of OSM Maritime Group with the local expertise of Svitzer.”
