THE KIMBERLEY Ports Authority has announced the appointment of Kevin Schellack as chief executive following the retirement of Vic Justice.

Most recently Mr Schellack was the chief operating officer of the Southern Ports Authority, Port of Bunbury.

Kimberley Ports Authority chair Laurie Shervington said Mr Schellack had extensive experience across port management, shipping, transport and mining sectors, both in Australia and China.

“He has embraced the current port reform and implementation process in the Southern Ports Authority context,” he said.

“He is ideally suited to take over from Vic Justice in the ongoing amalgamation process for the Kimberley Ports Authority, within the new legislative framework.”

Mr Schellack said: “I look forward to the challenge of my new role which initially will entail responsibility for Broome Port, until the amalgamation process is effected at the end of 2015.”

Mr Shervington thanked Mr Justice for his leadership during his tenure as chief executive of the Broome Port Authority and most recently as chief execuive of the Kimberley Ports Authority.
