A FIFTH accommodation vessel being built by Singaporean shipyard Keppel FELS for Floatel International will be chartered by INPEX for work in the Ichthys field once completed, Keppel FELS says.

Named the Floatel Triumph, the accommodation semisubmersible is being built to Keppel’s proprietary SSAUTM 5000NG design, meeting Australian standards.

The vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art accommodation and recreational facilities to provide comfort for its 500 person crew.

Keppel Offshore & Marine managing director Wong Kok Seng said the vessel would be delivered on time and on budget.

“As we ride through this challenging period in the offshore and marine industry, we continue to work closely with our quality customers to ensure that we deliver projects to their highest satisfaction,” he said.

Floating accommodation platforms are needed to provide additional living quarters for drilling and production personnel during operations offshore.

Such support is required during hook-up and commissioning in the development phase, for maintenance and upgrading during the production phase, as well as for decommissioning.

Floatel chief executive Peter Jacobsson said the accommodation vessels Keppel had delivered to Floatel had performed very well.

“Just like its sister rigs, we are fully confident that Floatel Triumph will serve us well and we look forward to more win-win partnerships with Keppel,” he said.
