QUEENSLAND-based oil and gas explorer Exoma Energy has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Forbes as an independent non-executive director.

Mr Forbes has a background in M&A, debt and equity markets and strong experience in the resources sector, having worked in the industry for more than 30 years.

Mr Forbes has held senior positions domestically and internationally in a number of major companies including Rio Tinto, BHP and CSR where he gained significant experience in the financing and development of resource projects in both Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

Mr Forbes is currently the non‐executive Chairman of Talon Petroleum and is a non‐executive director of Affinity Education Group Limited and CMI Limited.

Exoma chairman Brian Barker said the company was pleased to welcome a highly credentialed public company director to its board as it searches for new opportunities.

“Jeff ’s experience in leading companies through transitional periods as well as his corporate finance background will add significant additional capability at board level to identify and assess high potential opportunities,” he said.

Mr Forbes holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Directors (GAICD) and a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM).
