WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has appointed Helmut Houken as an associate director of electrical, responsible for leading projects across building services, infrastructure developments and power generation.
Mr Houken is based in the company’s Canberra office.
Company regional director for the Australian Capital Territory Dan Cunningham said he was confident Mr Houken will help the electrical team and wider business capitalise on new opportunities.
“Our local office is experiencing a period of growth and it is important that we continue to offer strong client support and project expertise particularly across our defence and healthcare portfolios and in specialist areas such as data centres and critical infrastructure.’
Mr Houken draws on 29 years’ experience in electrical design and brings a multi-disciplinary approach to projects including a sound understanding of environmentally sustainable design (ESD) principles and a knowledge of local and international design standards.
Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Mr Houken worked in New Zealand and South Africa on a variety of projects across healthcare, commercial, correctional facilities, data centres, schools, water and wastewater treatment and transportation, the company said.
