EXECUTIVE recruitment company Heidrick & Struggles has announced plans to open an office in Perth, Western Australia.

The new office will cover Australia’s industrial sector, with a special focus on energy, natural resources, mining and infrastructure, the company said.

Heidrick & Struggles vice president global markets Krishnan Rajagopalan said the addition of a Perth team was the beginning of a new chapter in the company’s global growth story.

“We plan to continue to bring talented consultants into our firm around the world, adding to our capabilities where we see opportunity.”

Heidrick & Struggles established operations in Australia in 1989, with the Perth office the firm’s third office in Australia and its 14th office in Asia Pacific.

Heidrick & Struggles Asia Pacific regional leader Steve Mullinjer said the consultants in the Perth office will build on the company’s expertise in Sydney and Melbourne.

This would help drive the success of industrial clients in Australia and throughout the region, he said.

“The mining and oil and gas sectors are major contributors to the Australian economy,” Mr Mullinjer said.

The mining sector currently comprises about 7 per cent of Australia’s total GDP and industry reports forecast strong growth in coming years in the oil and gas industry’s contribution to the country’s economic output.

Debbie Cozart will lead the Perth office with Colin Simpson and Beau Yorke joining the team.
