POWER and automation technology group ABB has recently launched its ABB XLF LED floodlight for hazardous areas which ABB says is cost effective and reduces maintenance.

ABB’s XLF LED floodlight is a complementary addition to its existing LED lighting range, which comprises linear fitting ranges EVNL, EVDL and EVTL; tubular fitting range XFFL and beacon range XFB.

The new floodlight is available in both wide and narrow beam versions.

Delivering 7,800 lumens of visible light from either the narrow or wide beam, the XLF LED floodlight has an extended life span of 50,000 hours, which ABB said reduces maintenance.

Compared to sodium lamps, the XLF LED will result in five times fewer lamp replacements during its total life cycle, according to ABB.

The floodlight has a strong, durable marine-grade aluminium alloy body and toughened borosilicate glass for use in harsh environments.

Equipped with a set of LED modules with an integrated diffuser, the XLF generates significantly more visible light with improved photometric data than existing sodium solutions, the company said.

Cost effective operation at 73 lumen/watt and a superior illumination, the new XLF floodlight is a great alternative to other sources and innovates within the ATEX Offshore/ Harsh Environment standard, with a higher lighting performance and major energy saving.

Reliability and safety are the cornerstones of ABB LED lighting for hazardous areas.

This is why the XLF LED floodlight combines instant startup illumination and restrike, allowing immediate ignition, with optimum performance both indoors and outdoors, ABB said.

Like all ABB LED lighting, the XLF is specifically designed for use in potentially dusty or gaseous atmospheres and it complies with ATEX, IECEx, EAC, INMETRO and PCEC international standards, as well as the European Zone categories 1, 2, 21 and 22.

Its offshore dedicated paint and internal corrosion protection makes it ideally suited to upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas applications, ABB said.
