FINDER Exploration is seeking a farm-in partner as it prepares to drill an exploration well in its wholly-owned EP 493 permit in the Canning basin.

The permit, which covers about 461,000 hectares, was granted to Finder on 1 March 2015, with the group committing to spud a petroleum exploration data well in June this year.

The vertical Theia 1 well aims to test the unconventional liquids potential of the Middle Ordovician Goldwyer III liquids rich resource play, Finder said.

The well will be drilled “slim hole”, the company said, aiming to capture up to 750 metres of continuous core, as well as to reduce environmental footprint and minimise costs.

The company aims to drill a further two petroleum exploration wells and acquire 220 kilometres of 2D seismic to test the limits of the play in the second full year of its permit.
