CANADIAN oil and gas software company Energy Navigator has opened an office in Brisbane as it bids to expand within Australia and the Asia Pacific.
Company vice president of international business development Janet Tremblay has been seconded to Brisbane for the year to establish the office and hire and train a local client service and technical support resource.
Energy Navigator had selected Brisbane to be close to its existing clientele, which it said included two producers, and to future opportunities in the region.
In an announcement, Ms Tremblay said the decision came as exploration and production companies (E&P) were experiencing tight margins across the world.
“E&P companies everywhere are under extreme pressure to find operational efficiencies and to ensure they are more reliably evaluating and capitalising on any opportunities that can help them weather the current low price environment,” she said.
“We cannot over-emphasise the importance of basing decisions on the most reliable, accurate production forecasts, thorough economic analysis, and continuous monitoring and management of reserves and resources.”
