AGL Energy Limited (AGL) has announced it intends to appoint Diane Smith-Gander as a non-executive director, and that Bruce Phillips will be retiring from the Board following AGL’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, 2016.
Ms Smith-Gander will stand for election at the AGM and, subject to approval by AGL’s shareholders, her appointment will take effect immediately thereafter.
Ms Smith-Gander is currently chairman of infrastructure services company Broadspectrum Limited, a role from which she will retire following its takeover by Ferrovial. She is a Non-Executive Director of diversified conglomerate Wesfarmers Limited. She is also president of Chief Executive Women and chair of Safe Work Australia.
Her prior board experience includes roles as a commissioner of Tourism Western Australia, Con-executive director CBH Group and deputy chairman of NBN Co Limited.
Prior to becoming a full-time company director in 2009, Ms Smith-Gander enjoyed a successful executive career with Westpac Banking Corporation, primarily in banking operations, technology solutions and change management roles, and as a consultant with McKinsey & Co.
AGL Energy has also announced the appointment og Elisabeth Brinton to the position of executive general manager, New Energy.
Ms Brinton has more than 25 years of experience growing companies and leading innovation across sectors including energy, technology, consumer food products and agriculture. Most recently, she was Corporate Strategy Officer for New York Stock Exchange-listed Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).
