CIVMEC has announced two recent appointments to its executive team – Damian Kelliher as group manager for support services and Charles Sweeney as general manager of metals and minerals.

Mr Kelliher joined Civmec in February 2015 and has made a significant contribution to the support services team over the last year, Civmec said.

In addition, he has been integral in forming joint ventures with the David Liddiard Group (DLG) to create Civmec-DLG and establish the group’s African businesses, as well as having significant involvement in the acquisition of Forgacs on the east coast of Australia, according to Civmec.

Prior to commencing with Civmec, Mr Kelliher held various senior positions in Leighton Contractors including commercial director on Chevron’s Gorgon project on Barrow Island.

Mr Sweeney has been with Civmec since inception having delivered projects as a senior project manager and has witnessed the growth of the company over the last six years.

Civmec said Mr Sweeney has been fundamental in the completion of key projects including Hope Downs 4, Yandi sustaining project, Nammuldi below water table project and Roy Hill iron ore.

Commenting on the appointments, Civmec chief executive Patrick Tallon said both Mr Kelliher and Mr Sweeney have worked hard and demonstrated their knowledge and leadership skills to date.

“They have the ability to use their individual judgement and offer helpful positive input to large strategic decision making. Their experience will add significant value to our executive team as we expand our operations to the east coast of Australia.”
