CHINA National Petroleum Corporation has signed a deal with Shell to co-operate on unconventional, deep sea exploration, LNG, upstream and downstream projects.

CNPC chairman Zhou Jiping and Shell chief executive Ben van Beurden signed the agreement in early April in a move CNPC said would strengthen their long-term relationship.

“Both agree to take soft power as an integral part in various fields of cooperation, and to promote the strategic partnership between the two sides to a higher level,” CNPC said in an announcement.
