SALAMANDER Energy has appointed Carey Davis as its new general manager of exploration in Indonesia.
Mr Davis has international experience from his time at Talisman Energy, where he worked in Canada, Sudan, Trinidad and parts of South East Asia.
“This opportunity [with Salamander] was one of those things that just came along,” Mr Davis said.
“I have always wanted to work in that part of the world, was keen to chase it and so now have that opportunity, which is great.”
Mr Davis started his career as a summer student at Fletcher Challenge Energy, before taking a professional position at the company following studies at Canterbury and Curtin universities.
He has also spent time with Swift Energy, Mighty River Power, and TAG Oil.
Mr Davis’s appointment comes after the Indonesian upstream regulator, SKKMigas, recommended the approval of Salamander’s plan of development for the Tutung gas field in the Bontang production sharing contract.
Formal approval is now awaited from the Ministry of Energy.
Salamander Energy also has exploration interests in Thailand.
