THE Perth office of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) is putting the finishing touches on its preparation for its annual Australian delegation visit to OTC in Houstion in May.

Since 1999, AMCHAM has been taking a large group of local oil and gas industry representatives to Houston to attend the world’s largest oil and gas event.

Over the years the Australian delegation has led to numerous business opportunities for Australian companies who receive unprecedented access to some of the world’s largest oil and gas companies

In 2018 the Australian delegaton had in excess of 5,000 booths to visit and according to tour leader Penelope Williamson, general manager for AMCHAM in WA & NT, the local delegates are always popular and welcome visitors to OTC.

“Our delegates are highly visible with polo-shirts, and delegate bags with the official Australian Trade Delegation Logo, which we have worn for the past 20 years,” Ms Williamson said.
“Often booth holders call out “the Aussies are back again.”

AMCHAM’s delegates have access to the Nomad Lounge to meet with the international delegates visiting Houston for OTC.

“This is s great place to rest your feet as you enjoy a coffee.I meet with the Group Leaders from around the world to facilitate opportunities for both parties and give them a copy of our Delegate Booklet, which lists the contact details and provides a capability statement of each company participating in the delegation,” Ms Williamson said.

“Each morning over breakfast, we have a guest speaker who provides information on doing business in the USA, including JJL, USA Consul General, former delegates such as Frank Holmes and Dave Sharp.

“We organise a number of functions for delegates during OTC including WECP Reception, VIP Dinner at Oceanaire, Tenaris Reception, etc.

“We also take our delegates to a series of meetings in Houston with major contacts such as NASA, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Bechtel, Shell, Schlumberger, Down Under Geo, etc,” Ms Williamson added.

Limited places are still available for the 2019 OTC visit. For further details contact Penelope Williamson on 08 93259540 or email at:
