MERMAID Maritime subsidiary Mermaid Subsea Services (Thailand) will provide subsea services to a major upstream oil and gas company under a recently awarded remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services contract in the Gulf of Thailand.

Mermaid announced the contract was valued at around US$10 million for the initial term.

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, structure and sea line inspection, free span correction, and corrosion prevention.

Awarded for a two-year term, the contract starts from March 2016 until March 2018, with an option for one-year extension, the company said.

The work will utilise the DP2 ROV support vessel Mermaid Sapphire along with a deepwater work-class ROV plus associated equipment and specialist personnel.

Mermaid’s Qatar-based subsidiary Mermaid Subsea Services was also awarded a US$10 million contract in March, covering the installation of a subsea cable and related diving services for a cable manufacturer.
