A THERMAL imaging camera able to operate in explosive atmospheres, the A310 ex can bring a new dimension in monitoring of critical assets, Flir Systems says.
The A310 ex meets the European Union’s ATEX directive – meeting standards for equipment to be used in explosive atmospheres by protecting the environment from potential ignition sources.
With a thermal imaging camera mounted in an enclosure, the A310 ex can be used for process monitoring, quality control and fire detection in classification zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.
The certification comprises the whole system which includes the enclosure as well as all components inside, such as the thermal imaging camera, heater and integrated controller, Flir said.
“The flame-proof enclosure ‘d’ prevents any explosion transmission from the inside of the enclosure to the outside.”
The A310 ex is also IP67 rated, making it ideal to install in dusty environments, and also comes with a heater to prevent fogging and freezing of the protection window.
The integrated controller features several digital I/O channels which, among other features, enable the user to switch the camera and the heater on and off via remote control.
This access is accomplished through an integrated web interface or Modbus TCP/ IP.
The integrated controller is equipped with two fibre optic and two ethernet parts, enabling flexible network integration.
The controller also has sensors for temperature, humidity and pressure, and is equipped with two fibre optic and two ethernet parts, enhancing network integration in star or ring topologies.
The camera has measurement functions like spot, area and difference temperature measurement and built-in alarm functions.
The camera automatically sends analysis results, IR images and more as an e-mail on schedule or at alarm, acting as an FTP or SMTP client.
