Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Corps (CEO Lee Sung-geun) said it had received eight vessels, including two LNG carriers and six container ships from European shipowners, from Maran Gas Maritime, Greece’s largest shipping company, for 1.8438 billion won. The vessels will be built at Okpo Shipyard and delivered to the shipowners in the second half of 2025.
The LNG transport line received this time is a large LNG transport line of 174,000㎥class, equipped with a high pressure dual fuel propulsion engine (ME-GI) and a more advanced gas management system, which boasts daewoo shipbuilding, which can significantly reduce the atmospheric emissions of methane exhaust gas, the main culprit of greenhouse gases. As a result, it is able to effectively respond to enhanced greenhouse gas emission regulations.
With the lng transport line expected to continue to increase in line with the worldwide decarbonization framework, it is expected that daewoo shipbuilding, the driest lng route, will gain an advantage. According to the actual Clarkson Research (as of the end of January), Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine has dried up 174 of the 686 LNG carriers currently operating, the most in the world.
In addition, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine is equipped with a high pressure dual fuel propulsion engine (ME-GI), the main engine that is increasingly interested in shipowners in the current market, as well as a low-pressure dual-fuel propulsion engine (XDF / ME-GA), which can provide a variety of options for shipowners. In particular, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine is leading the technology in related fields based on the world’s first dry experience of LNG-related products such as icebreaking LNG shipping lines, LNG-RV, LNG-FSRU, LNG-FPSO, and the world’s largest LNG-FSU.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine officials said, “In just one month, we have secured the amount we received by May of last year (approximately 27.4 billion U.S. dollars).” “This year, we will do our best to secure a sense of one’s feelings and profitability through the selection of eco-friendly, high-value vessels, such as dual fuel propulsion vessels, mainly on LNG shipping lines.” I said.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine has received a total of 12 vessels/aircraft worth about 27.2 billion U.S. dollars, including five LNG carriers, six container ships and one marine plant.
