CHINA’S Cosco Guandong shipyard has delivered a self-erecting drilling tender barge to Singapore-based Energy Drilling – the first of two ordered by the company.
Overall, the Edrill 1 barge measures 99.97 metres in length, 29.87 metres in breadth, 11.35 metres in depth, and can accommodate a crew of 170, Cosco said.
The barge has a working depth of 2,000 metres, a drilling depth of 20,000 feet and is equipped with heavy lift cranes with a safe working load of 400 metric tonnes.
“It is designed to provide remote field drilling and workover services; it can also carry out drilling operations in areas requiring pile positioning.”
Energy Drilling has contracts with Cosco for the construction of another tender rig and one semi-tender rig, with options for three more at the Guangdong yard.
