AUSTRALIAN Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) has successfully commissioned the Pluto Inlet Station – the new facility connecting the Pluto LNG Project to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP).

The successful commissioning allows additional gas supply to reach Western Australian consumers.

Woodside – which operates the Pluto LNG plant near Karratha in WA – engaged AGIG’s development group to undertake a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study to convert an existing outlet meter station to an inlet facility, along with the required compression.

The completed inlet facility now has the capacity to supply up to 25 terajoules per day via the DBNGP to WA consumers of natural gas.

AGIG’s chief customer officer, Andrew Staniford, said AGIG was pleased to play a key role in this latest project achievement for Woodside, expanding increased capacity to supply natural gas to consumers.

“Delivering the successful commissioning of the Pluto facility for Woodside demonstrates continued project success for AGIG and a greater diversification of gas sources available to the WA market,” Mr Staniford said.

AGIG was formed in 2017 when Australian Gas Networks (AGN), Dampier to Bunbury Pipeline (DBP) and Multinet Gas Networks (MGN) came together.

These combined distribution, transmission and storage assets make AGIG one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia.

In Western Australia, the DBNGP has been in continuous operation since 1984, linking the gas fields in the Carnarvon Basin off the Pilbara coast directly to mining, industrial, commercial and residential customers throughout the State.

AGIG has approximately 2 million customers covering every mainland Australian state and the Northern territory, 34,000 kilometres of distribution networks, over 3,500 kilometres of gas transmission pipelines, and 42 petajoules of gas storage capacity.
